A Reader's Opinion A delightful story wrapped with romance and charm in a lovely setting. Riverbend Road is book four in the Haven Point series, and I thought it read well as a stand-alone novel. I enjoyed some of the secondary characters enough that now I want to read their stories! Wyn and Cade are a great match, and I especially liked Cade's character. There were times when I thought their reasons for staying apart weren't as difficult as they made them out to be, and the chemistry wasn't always apparent, but their struggle to admit and accept what was between them was worth it when they finally came together. The secondary storyline with Wyn's neighbor is a nice addition to the book, and helped serve to both distract and bring together Wyn and Cade. THE BOOK He had no future. She had no past. A READER'S OPINION Spellbound! Beyond the Shadows by Linda Boulanger has all of the key elements to a really dynamic and beautifully written romance! I sat down to read the first chapter and ended up being unable to put it down until I had reached the end. I have read and enjoyed very much, Dance With The Enemy by this author! She has done her magic again! The thing I like most about Ms. Boulanger’s books, is that they hook you in right from the start and keep you there! I loved it so much! I got swept away and felt drawn to her two beautiful characters, Redahn and Mahryn. What a wonderful imagination this author has! I soon got hooked in their journey filled with hope and love! A real page turner! Beyond the Shadows is the beautiful story of two broken souls, Redahn and Mahryn. Their journey will be filled with hope, trust and lots of twists and turns! The hero, Redahn, may look and seem like an arrogant man, but underneath he is a sweet, patient and emotional man! He has no intentions of finding a wife, preferring to choose a maiden during the Dremis Celebration. However, his plan will change him forever. Mahryn is a stubborn, broken soul, serving her father like a puppet. Horrible visions still haunt her, leaving her with an unknown past. As they meet, Redahn feels like a protector toward Mahryn and their relationship will become complex with ups and downs. Together they will bond to find answers related to their own lives. We start right off with the mystery of the missing dagger and I did feel like I came in at the middle of a story, but soon found my way. There were times when I felt like I was in the 1600s with the Highlanders and other times when I felt like I'd come back to modern times. With more bed play than story, this quick and easy read is a nice way to spend an afternoon. A READER'S OPINION The book blurb summarizes the story perfectly, so there's no need for that here. I will say that my lack of sleep one night can be entirely blamed on Kaki Warner. I picked up "Where the Horses Run" for my usual hour of reading before bed. It turns out that I couldn't stop at one hour. In true Kaki fashion, nothing in this story is sugar-coated. You smell the dust and sweat, feel the tears and heartache, and your heart pounds when you know two people should just stop being stupid and be together. There was a bit of talk about 19th-century contraceptives—something I've noticed in books lately—that I could have done without, but it was over quickly. I loved how much of the story centered around horses. I know the title pretty much says that, but it's done so well. I completely fell in love with the stallion, Pems, and wanted to take care of him as much as Rayford and Josephine. Josephine's father was quite unlikable as intended, and her son was adorable.  I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a nice twist to a western story, and especially those who enjoy horses with their romance books.
